Daredevil Season 3: 20 Easter Eggs & References Explained

11. The Maggia

Daredevil Maggia
Netflix & Marvel Comics

Near the beginning of episode eight, Foggy brings a file of information to a traumatised Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), resting a piece of paper on her coffee table which contains a diagram of Wilson Fisk's influences throughout the city.

It's only visible for a few fractions of a second, but the word "Maggia" is written on the diagram, which in the comics was a Mafia-like organisation which hired super-powered individuals to do its bidding.

The name change from Mafia is believed to be an attempt to avoid offending Italian-Americans and also incurring the wrath of the real-life crime syndicate.

Aside from the Maggia appearing in season two of Agent Carter, this is one of the organisation's few mentions throughout the entire MCU.
