Growing up, Matt Murdock had Battlin' Jack Murdock as his only parent. He was a prize fighter, but when he got mixed up in the wrong crowed, Jack died and left Matt without a father. He was then raised by Stick before relocating to an orphanage, but his mother, Maggie Murdock, is only referenced by name.
Set to be played by Joanne Whalley in Season 3, it's likely that we'll meet the character early on, with Matt recovering at the Clinton Mission in Hell's Kitchen. She too found prominence in Miller and Mazzucchelli's Born Again, so we can count her appearance as yet another clue that the storyline will permeate Season 3's narrative.
Either way, it'll be great to see Maggie Murdock make her MCU debut. Here's hoping Whalley and Cox get plenty of scenes together.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
