DC's Legends Of Tomorrow: 5 Things It Needs To Do Differently From Arrow And The Flash

4. Follow The Rules

Arrow and The Flash break their own rules all the time. Arrow has flip-flopped back and forth on everything from the work required to become a proper vigilante to whether ends can justify means, and The Flash tends to use the elements of time travel that are convenient in a given episode without paying much attention to the dirty details. The rule-breaking is excusable to a certain extent with Arrow and The Flash, however, because Arrow and The Flash are shows about a hero€™s journey rather than a flat premise. Legends of Tomorrow is a time travel series, and it€™s absolutely essential that the show develop its own set of rules that cannot be broken with regard to timelines without terrible consequences. If a character breaks the rules, there need to be repercussions that can€™t just be undone. Time travel can be a treacherous tool if written too casually; as long as Legends of Tomorrow follows its own rules more closely than Oliver and Barry do with their own on Arrow and The Flash, the spinoff may become one of the best time travel series in recent memory.
