Geeky Trivia

I know what you're thinking: isn't this all geeky? It's about to get geekier: these are the facts that not even Steven Moffat particularly cares about. If you know everything else about the show, start with these ones... 60. Matt Smith has faced the Cybermen in each penultimate episode of his series ('The Pandorica Opens', 'Closing Time', 'Nightmare In Silver'). 59. In 'Asylum of the Daleks', two of the Alaskan star fleet share their name with Lee Harvey Oswald (Oswin Oswald and Harvey), the man who killed John F Kennedy. The shooting of JFK shares its anniversary with the first broadcast episode of Doctor Who. 58. Christopher Eccleston became the first Doctor to be born after the show's first episode, when he was cast in 2005. Peter Capaldi is the first NewWho Doctor born before An Unearthly Child. 57. New Zealand was the first country to broadcast Who outside of the UK, in 1964. 56. The title of the 'The Big Bang' was intended somewhat as a secret joke by Moffat, relating to the night of River Song's conception.

55. In 'Dalek', Henry von Statton correctly predicts that the Democrats will win the US Election in 2012. 54. The Doctor has a panic button on the keyboard in the TARDIS, as seen in 'The Time Of Angels', briefly. 53. The Doctor was credited as "Doctor Who" up until Tom Baker's last story, Logopolis. From Peter Davison's first story, Castrovalva onwards he was credited as "The Doctor". The 1996 TV Movie doesn't state either, but the Ninth Doctor's series reverts back to "Doctor Who". It's been "The Doctor" again since 'The Christmas Invasion". 52. A line in Melody Malone's book ('The Angels Take Manhattan') states that River's eyes are blue. Alex Kingston's eyes are green. 51. The longest single Doctor Who episode is The Five Doctors, which stands at 90 minutes long.
