Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The Day Of The Doctor

10. Steven Moffat Didn't Want To Include Rose

Don't worry, we aren't about to expose Steven Moffat as a Rose Tyler hater. Far from it, in fact.

The Day of the Doctor features not only David Tennant reprising his role, but also Billie Piper. However, rather than returning to play Rose, Piper appears as the physical manifestation of The Moment.

Steven Moffat explained that he very much wanted to bring Piper along for the ride, but also felt conscious about undoing the end of Rose's story:

"I thought the story of Rose, which was beautiful, was done. I didn’t want to add to it, I didn’t feel qualified to add to it... I didn’t want to stick another bit in. It would be wrong."

Instead, we were treated to yet another outstanding performance from NuWho's first companion.

Sometimes you hear my voice, sometimes you see my face and sometimes you read my words! But I’m usually away with the faeries and timelords! ?‍♀️

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
