Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The Day Of The Doctor

It would've been extremely disappointing if the Tenth Doctor's return didn't also feature an appearance from his TARDIS, but The Day of the Doctor kindly delivered on that front.

It isn't onscreen for very long, and that's because there were some real-world complications that prevented the crew from using it.

At the time, Ten's TARDIS was part of the Doctor Who Experience, which is where they borrowed it from while filming the episode. But because the Experience needed it back, the production was only able to utilise it for half a day.

To get around this, Moffat scripted in the idea of Tennant's grungy coral TARDIS reverting back to the colder, more machine-like Matt Smith version.

Sometimes you hear my voice, sometimes you see my face and sometimes you read my words! But I’m usually away with the faeries and timelords! ?‍♀️

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
