You'd be forgiven for forgetting about these volcanic beings that appeared in The Fires of Pompeii, as the episode has a lot other elements which take the spotlight, such as Peter Capaldi's first appearance in the show as well as the fact The Doctor caused the Pompeii eruption.

But these goliath beings were really cool. They had an amazing design, the way they transformed humans was incredibly creepy, and volcanoes are always exciting settings for adventures. If a writer could find a new interesting angle to explore with the Pyroviles, it could be a smart way to draw some more attention to the aliens that they didn't quite get in The Fires of Pompeii.

When it comes to setting it would probably be best to avoid a past historical eruption, as that would possibly be too similar to the last time we saw them. Maybe we could see The Pyroviles in our distant future, somehow involved with Yellowstone. That is the ultimate volcano after all. Writers could even explore the Pyrovile planet now that The Doctor has returned it to them after Davros stole it.
