Doctor Who: 9 Most Overrated Episodes Of The Revived Series

7. Turn Left

Doctor Who Turn Left Why it is beloved? It's a peak of a world without the Doctor; total and utter chaos. It is the first episode that sees Rose Tyler return with a major role. Why it's overrated? So Donna Noble meets a fortune teller that gives her the chance to change a significant moment in her past - the moment she chose to turn left and retain her job as a temp that leads to her meeting the Doctor or turn right instead, to chose a different life with a new job. She turns right. This butterfly effect created an alternate universe on which the Doctor dies. The aspects of this episode that involve a world without the Doctor are really good. The amount of detail put into the events the Doctor didn't stop because he is dead and how it affects the lives of small individuals are what set this episode in the human side of sci-fi. Unfortunately, it is the events around it that cripple the episode. Firstly, why would Donna choose the different timeline instead of the real one? How did the Doctor die in the new timeline? In the real world it's because Donna Noble stops him from flooding the room they were in. So that means, in the alternate timeline, he just stood where he stands, too stupid to notice that he is drowning? Also, why is Rose all-knowing? She knows everything that is happening across the universe, including events like Torchwood dying and that Donna is the reason why the events differ. UNIT agents even listen to every word she says. Annoyingly, the episode doesn't give any explanation, either. Why wouldn't Rose tell her name to anyone? That makes no sense and it's only the case because the episode needed a reveal at the end. Why did Rose whisper "Bad Wolf" anyway, instead of her real name? In the end, the episode didn't give any information why the fortuneteller did what she did, except for those who watch The Sarah Jane Adventures. To everyone else, the fortuneteller is just a jerk.
