From shop worker to time traveller to saviour of the entire universe, Rose Tyler went on quite the journey throughout the first series of modern Who.

As the first companion of the new era, Rose had a monumental task on her hands, but she pulled it off with aplomb and is now regarded as one of the greatest partners the Doctor has ever had.

You can thank Billie Piper for that.

The former pop-star has continued to be an in-demand actress since 2005. She led the spicy drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl between 2007 and 2011, sharing a few memorable scenes with the Eleventh Doctor along the way.

Her most iconic role however – not counting her various returns to the Whoniverse – is undoubtedly Suzie Pickles in the Bad Wolf-produced drama I Hate Suzie, for which Piper has received widespread critical acclaim and awards buzz.

Two series aired between 2020 and 2022, and the possibility of a third is still up in the air.

Piper will next be seen in another major project: the Netflix movie Scoop, which tells the story of Newsnight's 2019 interview with Prince Andrew.
