Doctor Who Series 9: 22 Easter Eggs You Need To See
14. Macbeth
Sleep No More, the ninth episode of Series 9, takes its title from Macbeth, using a line spoken by the Scottish King himself ("Methought I heard a voice cry, Sleep no more!"). It's not the only reference though, as the Doctor remarks during the episode that "Shakespeare really knew stuff." Of course, the reason the Doctor knows this is because he has met the Bard on numerous occasions, with one appearing on screen in The Shakespeare Code, back when David Tennant was still the man in the TARDIS, with Dean Lennox Kelly playing the playwright. In that episode, he proves insusceptible to psychic paper, hence the Doctor knowing that he knew stuff.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
