RTD and not leaving enough time to wrap things up, name a more iconic duo.

Yes, it appears, even with extended runtime, the big man still can’t seem to work out how to not leave himself two minutes to wrap up the main plot, and so we ended up with The Toymaker being defeated by… losing a game of catch?

We understand that a game needed to be played, this is the way this antagonist operates, no issues there, but this, high stakes or not, didn’t do a fantastic job of maintaining him as a terrifying, near omnipotent entity. We’d much rather he’d been outsmarted, like in his first appearance, with the Doctor relying on his wits rather than his athleticism to overcome this - this could have given Ncuti a way to flex his muscles and show us he’s The Doctor, but alas. It feels a little unearned and tremendously anticlimactic.

At least this meant the following scenes were given the appropriate amount of time and mavitas, we guess.
