3. The Format

One of the more interesting parts of Drunk History is that the shows creator, Derek Waters, chose to focus on a specific city per episode. The first episode focuses on Washington, D.C., with stories about Nixon and Watergate, Nixon meeting Elvis Presley, and the Booth brothers rivalry prior to John Wilkes killing Lincoln. Subsequent episodes focus on cities as varied as Chicago, Atlanta, and Boston. As a result, a well-rounded understanding of the history of the United States, including in-depth stories about specific large cities in the country, is gained. Rather than focusing on a multitude of national stories, DH helps the viewers to learn about the histories of individual cities.
