Eastbound & Down Finale: 5 Reasons We'll Miss The Show
Very rarely has a TV show captured my attention in a way like Eastbound & Down. Some of you may have only a fleeting idea of what the show is, and some of you may have never heard of it. I was introduced to Eastbound & Down by a friend, who basically described it as 'an American show about a washed up baseball player.' Not having any interest in baseball at all, I was dubious. I gave it a pass, and watched Futurama instead. That was a few years ago, and now I can safely say Eastbound & Down is one of my favourite comedies of all time. The show can be described as the aforementioned 'American Show about a washed-up baseball player', but that doesn't capture any of the real story at all. Not in any way it's like describing the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbour as a multi-national misunderstanding. Eastbound & Down is quite frankly, a brilliant comedy show. Starring Danny McBride as fame-hungry, money-loving, drug-using, power-abusing, baseball-playing (in the loosest possible sense) Kenny Powers, the show is like no other on TV. Produced by HBO and running over four seasons since 2009, Eastbound & Down has seen its central character Kenny Powers travel on a road paved with disaster as a once-great Major League Baseball player achieving downfall after downfall. I cant quite think of any way to fully describe Eastbound & Down. My expectations of a show about a washed up baseball player were thoroughly shattered once I began watching the show. Four seasons on, and I cant get to grips with a way to define Kenny Powers, or his story. If youve seen it, then youll understand. How can I explain Ashley Schaeffer? Or Kennys trip to Mexico? How do I sum up the character of Stevie Janowski? If you havent seen it, then watch it as soon as you can. Youve been missing out! But now the show is over, with the last season finale aired in North America last Sunday night. For those of you who know and understand this show, here are 5 things were going to miss
