Emmys 2022: 5 Ups & 7 Downs
1. Sheryl Lee Ralph's Amazing Acceptance Speech
Yet there was one show-stealing acceptance speech that'll surely be remembered above all others, and that's Sheryl Lee Ralph's incredible reaction to winning the Outstanding Supporting Actress (Comedy) Emmy for her performance in Abbott Elementary.
Ralph, a 40+ year veteran of stage and screen, was certainly one of the night's most deserving nominees, and her speech ensured nobody watching will ever forget it.
After taking her time getting to the stage out of sheer shock, Ralph started her speech by ripping out a verse from Dianne Reeves' "Endangered Species," and then letting loose with some powerfully motivating words:
"To anyone who has ever, ever had a dream and thought your dream wasn't, wouldn't, couldn't come true, I am here to tell you this is what believing looks like."
Ralph's win proved all the more refreshing given that she was also the only comedy acting winner this year who wasn't a repeat victor. You love to see it.
