Emmys 2024 Review: 9 Ups & 7 Downs
6. Better Call Saul Gets Totally Shut Out
Better Call Saul ended up setting a depressing record at this year's Emmys, as it once again went home empty-handed, in turn not winning a single of the 53 Primetime Emmys it was nominated for throughout its spectacular six-season run.
No show in the history of the Emmys has racked up so many nominations without even a single win, and fans were left especially disappointed that Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn never won for their sublime performances across the show.
While it's tough to argue with Odenkirk losing out on a Best Lead Actor Emmy to Succession's Kieran Culkin, was Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus) really more deserving of a Best Supporting Actress gong than Seehorn?
Given that Coolidge also won an Emmy for her performance the season prior, this felt like a ripe opportunity to share the wealth and finally break Better Call Saul's absurd losing streak.
It does nothing to damage the show's esteem, of course, but is certainly a bit of an embarrassing look for the Emmys themselves.
