Every Archer Lead Ranked Worst To Best
7. Ray Gillette
Ray is a solid character who acts as a great example of the awful influences of Sterling Archer. The man starts as this optimistic and impressive field agent, analyst and bomb specialist, but as the show progresses ends up becoming more and more cynical due to the mishaps he faces - such as being paralysed multiple times. This gives his role a real sense of development, but once he fits into his new routine, he doesn't change too much.
Agent Gillette ends up having a lot about his past become revealed, especially in the episode Bloody Ferlin where we get to meet his brother and find out some aspects about his existence before ISIS. This gives him a sense of development and ultimately makes the character a little more relevant to the crew.
Additionally, his position as an openly LGBT character is pleasant in such a mean spirited show, as it is never treated with the kind of harsh bullying or deliberately provocative banter that many others would approach the subject with.
Unfortunately, in the end, Ray feels too much like a promoted side character. His role started relatively small and grew over the series, and this always makes him feel a little less prevalent than the others.
