Every DC Comics TV Show EVER Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Smallville

DC TV Shows
Warner Bros.

We've already discussed how Arrow was the founding father of the Arrowverse, but if any show inspired its success, it was undoubtedly Smallville - which waved the superhero flag in an era that had essentially forgotten comic book programming existed.

A Superman-prequel based on Clark Kent's young days at Smallville High - and later as an aspiring journalist in the Daily Planet - the show carried on the legacy of Lois & Clark in that paid specific attention to the relationships Clark formed on his journey to becoming a legend (while also allowing for a lot of enjoyable heroics along the way).

With its undeniably teen approach and nostalgic tone, Smallville is a pure noughties teen drama and it's a perfect example of how the comic book genre can inspire programs outside of its comfort zone.

And, in spite of its shortcomings, the show thrived on Tom Welling's exceptional leading performance, giving us a long-running Superman TV series that will stand the test of time.
