Every Inside No. 9 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

17. Seance Time

Inside No 9
BBC

Plot: Tragedy unfolds on the set of a corrupt hidden-camera prank show that's designed to frighten unsuspecting members of the public.

Location: An old Victorian house.

Season one concluded with a supernatural horror story as well. That one was terrific, but this one is even better.

A bitingly funny dark comedy, a chilling and disturbing supernatural horror story and a scathing, unsettling attack on reality TV all at the same time, Seance Time works on many, many levels and serves as an enormously satisfying season finale.

As well as this, as you'd expect from this show, the episode has a very memorable and engaging line-up of characters brought to life by a wonderful cast.

In the wake of the many controversies surrounding British reality TV shows, as well as the (long-overdue) cancellation of The Jeremy Kyle Show, this episode's themes feel even more relevant now than they did back in 2015, so this is an episode that's just getting better and better with age.
