Every Inside No. 9 Twist Ranked
10. Hurry Up And Wait - Bev Killed The Baby
Plot: An actor (Shearsmith) in a true-crime drama, based on the disappearance of a baby boy, is in a residential caravan waiting for filming to start, but he soon starts to suspect that the bizarre residents are connected to the case that is being dramatized.
This is another twist that really plays with the viewer, as you'll think you've called it at first.
Many clues throughout the episode point to the strange daughter of the caravan's owners, Beverly (Donna Preston), being the missing baby Ryan disguised as a woman.
James, the actor, thinks this and opens Bev's dressing gown in front of everyone... only to discover that she is a woman after all. Her father (Pemberton) then punches James in the face.
This scene is absolutely hilarious, so it couldn't be more different from the final scene.
While the family watch the crime drama air, they comment that no-one knows the truth. Beverly then looks down at the doll she was carrying throughout the episode... there is a skeletal human hand sticking out. All along, Beverly killed the baby when she was only ten.
Chilling doesn't even cover it. It's a completely horrifying ending that'll give even the hardest viewers the shivers, and the way the episode tricked you into thinking the family was blameless makes it even more shocking.
This is a great twist, though some viewers might find this episode too disturbing to rewatch.
