30. Zanzibar - The Twins Are The Suicidal Man's Sons

Inside No 9
BBC

Plot: Various misunderstandings unfold in a hotel corridor, mainly thanks to two guests being identical twin brothers (Rory Kinnear). The episode's dialogue is written in iambic pentameter.

Let's face it: most people will have called this one very early on.

As soon as Mr Green (Bill Paterson), who spends most of the episode preparing to kill himself, revealed he had two long-lost twin sons it all seemed pretty obvious where this was going.

Another thing that made this twist very obvious is that this whole episode is a love letter to Shakespeare and this reveal feels like the kind of thing that would happen in a Shakespeare play; basically, this ending barely even felt like a twist. While Zanzibar is one of the best episodes of the show, it's got one of its weakest twists.

Nonetheless, the reunion scene at the end was lovely, so it's not a total loss.
