Every Season Of 24 - Ranked From Worst To Best
7. Season 4
Plot: Jack is now working for the Department of Defense under Secretary James Heller (William Devane), and he's involved with his daughter Audrey Raines. Terrorist Habib Marwan (Arnold Vosloo, The Mummy) launches a series of attacks.
24 never worked to solve any of its issues with race, but it would occasionally throw in a positive Muslim to quiet the left. But that ironically made arguments against the show that much stronger, as the characters are so nakedly transparent versions of creator Joel Surnow (Rush Limbaugh's friend) screaming, "I'm not racist! Look at my black friend!"
Such was the case with young Behrooz Araz, the youngest member of a Muslim family who was never really invested with his parents' criminal behaviour until they murdered his girlfriend, making him resentful.
The show has three forms of villain: misguided but devout, money-driven and female. 24 really hates women. Even the positive ones have personality disorders, or they're petty, from Nina Myers in the first three seasons to Season 4's Marianne Taylor. Aisha Tyler appears early in the season and she exists exclusively to make life difficult for the competent acting CTU field agent Curtis Manning (Roger Cross). It's not much of a shock that she's a mole, but that she's set up to be sexually controlling, manipulative and power-hungry beforehand is just 24 being true to its nature.
That said, the action is stellar almost all the way through, and it's nice to see Jack happy - however briefly.
