1. Marge Be Not Proud
It has heart without being schmaltzy, morals without being preachy and the ending offers both justice and redemption for Bart. It’s a perfectly ‘Simpsons’ style Christmas episode.
After trying and failing to get Marge to buy him Bonestorm (or go to hell), Bart decides to steal the cartridge for himself. His punishment isn’t particularly severe, as he’s only banned from the Try-N-Save, and Marge feels at such a loss with what to do she doesn’t punish him at all. Instead, her new approach of treating him less like her special little guy and more like an adult gnaws away at Bart’s guilty conscience.
Considering how dysfunctional the family is, it makes perfect seasonal story. The emotion is well earned and the episode brilliantly paced throughout. All of the jokes land too, which you’d expect from Season 7.
The ending of Marge buying Bart the game after all but getting the wrong one and giving him Lee Carvalho’s Putting Challenge instead is especially hilarious. Just spare a thought for all those kids that have asked for Red Dead Redemption 2, only to wake up and unwrap Fallout 76.
