A couple of common themes on Netflix's upcoming slate have been foreign language dramas and drug lords. The reason of both can be attributed to the success of Narcos, Netflix's most successful foreign language series, which is about the life of Pablo Escabar.

It's still not huge, but Season 2 definitely made a step-up on the first in terms of attention and acclaim, and Netflix gave it a big show of faith by renewing it not just for Season 3, but 4 as well. It should only continue to get bigger (and better) in 2017.
