Family Guy: 10 Best Moments

8. The Griffin Family History

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee3oSKr2v4E In "The Griffin Family History" episode during season 4, the Griffin's family home is the subject of a burglary, and Peter locks himself and the rest of the family, barring Meg, in his hand-built panic room, leaving his daughter at the mercy of the intruders downstairs, whom Meg tries to convince, in vain, to "have their way with her", which they refuse in horror. Whilst inside the panic room, Peter regales his family with stories of the Griffin family history, including tales of how his ancestors invented the wheel. The best moment from this episode is the "Godfather argument" in which Peter declares he "does not care for" the crime epic, remarking that "it insists upon itself". When pressed on what exactly this statement means, Chris comes into his own by staunchly defending the films. What works here is that Chris finally asserts himself instead of portraying the unintelligent moron fans are used to seeing, and shows that he actually has something meaningful to say.
