2. Mr Herbert
Speaking of annoying characters, surely Mr Herbert has gone past his sell-by-date? Quahog's resident paedophile, Mr Herbert actively preys on the vulnerable children of Spooner St. and, though he is never shown to follow through with his desires, those desires are hardly made secret. Herbert is a sinister, horrible character. His paedophilia was tongue-in-cheek initially but now it's flat-out creepy. Also, he's about one-hundred-and-nine, surely it's only a matter of time until he snuffs it? It seems almost impossible to like Herbert, worse still, he's supposed to be funny. Really? What's funny about child molestation? I get it, Family Guy is 'dark' and 'risqué', but this is taking things too far. If you're going to write a character into your TV show who is an active paedophile, fine. But at least don't allow his behaviour to go unpunished. A line has to be drawn somewhere. By making light of paeophilia, Family Guy aren't so much crossing said line as they are kicking it into the sand, and, as Rowan Kaiser of The A.V. Club
once wrote, "Herbert is a black hole of sh*ttiness whose every appearance brings out the worst tendencies of Family Guy".
