33. To Love & Die In Dixie

Family Guy 33Season: 3 Episode: 12 Original Air Date: November 15th, 2001 After the Griffins are placed in the Witness Protection Program when Chris witnesses a robbery, only for Peter to accidentally give the criminal all of Chris' personal information, the family moves to the fictional town of Bumblescum, in the United States' deep south. The family is forced to change in almost every way. Meg becomes extremely popular with the young males of Bumblescum, Stewie decides to start playing the banjo, and Peter becomes Public Enemy #1 for interrupting a Civil War reenactment that featured some... interesting... hindsight. However, the main story is Chris thinking he's gay because he was kissed by a "boy" that merely ended up being a girl with her long hair underneath a cap thanks to her tomboyish ways. Once the drama is over, and the Griffins return to Quahog, we're introduced to the fan-favorite character of Mr. Herbert for the first time, as we listen to some voice mails that Herbert left the Griffins, wondering where his favorite paperboy had disappeared to. It let us know right away that the character was going to be something different than we were used to, and that it would be pushing boundaries.
