Family Guy: 50 Best Episodes

24. Brian Writes A Bestseller

Family Guy 24Season: 9 Episode: 6 Original Air Date: November 21st, 2010 Brian's failure as an author is getting to him, but when he realizes that the top-selling book in the country is a self-help book, he decides to write a self-helper of his own, trying to prove that the genre is worthless and that anybody can write one. Once the book is released, it becomes an immediate smash, and it changes Brian's point of view on things. Sure, it wasn't the way he initially wanted it to happen, but he was now a best-selling author, and that high changed his personality. He hired Stewie to be his publicist, but as his ego grows, he begins to mistreat Stewie more and more. Everything leads to Brian making an appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher, with the animated dog being on the actual show, with Maher guest starring, along with guests Arianna Huffington and Dana Gould. His time on the show can only be described in one word... brutal. He was ripped apart left and right by Maher, Huffington and Gould, who destroyed his book and his writing ability. It's the kind of thing that, if it were a real talk show appearance and not a gag on Family Guy, would make you feel terrible for Brian. In this context, though, it made for hilarious television, watching the pompous pr*ck get taken down several pegs.
