8 Female TV Characters Who Get Way Too Much Hate

1. Skyler White (Breaking Bad)

Dexter Debra Morgan
AMC

Why is Skyler White so hated? Is it because she's the only responsible adult in the White household? Because she actually takes care of her children, rather than spending her time making meth in a ridiculous last ditch effort to, essentially, win the lottery?

Or maybe it's because she got so depressed when she found out her husband was a murdering, meth-making psychopath that she tried to drown herself in front of her family as a cry for attention. Could be that last thing, I suppose. It was a little over-the-top.

Let's set aside how many people mocked actress Anna Gunn's weight gain in later seasons, because those people are garbage people. But it's weird how many viewers truly have no patience for a character who is, without compromise, the moral compass of the show.

Skyler has a kleptomaniac for a sister, a disabled son, and an infant daughter to take care of. But we do not sympathize with Skyler. She is lied to at every turn by her pathologically delusional husband who is also emotionally abusive. But we do not sympathize with Skyler. She tries to fight back against her tyrant of a spouse using the only leverage she has (his children) and "Boo! Skyler's the worst! Get rid of Skyler!"

We sure do love to hate good people, don't we?
