Here€™s the official synopsis from A&E,

A&E Network presents €œStephen King€™s Bag of Bones,€ a four-hour epic miniseries based on The New York Times #1 bestselling novel, and featuring Pierce Brosnan€™s return to television. The two-night event from Sony Pictures Television premieres in December.
Bag of Bones€ is a ghost story of grief and lost love's enduring bonds, about an innocent child caught in a terrible crossfire and a new love haunted by past secrets. Melissa George (€œIn Treatment€), Annabeth Gish (€œBrotherhood€), Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls), William Schallert (€œThe Patty Duke Show€), Jason Priestley (€œBeverly Hills, 90210€) and Caitlin Carmichael (€œTrue Blood€) also star.
In €œBag of Bones,€ bestselling novelist Mike Noonan (Brosnan) is unable to stop grieving after the sudden death of his wife Jo (Gish). Suffering from writer€™s block, a dream inspires him to return to the couple's lakeside retreat in western Maine. While there, Mike befriends an attractive young widow, Mattie (George) and her daughter Kyra (Carmichael), and becomes involved in a custody battle with the child's enormously wealthy grandfather, Max (Schallert). Though his ability to write suddenly returns, Mike is plagued by ever-escalating nightmares and mysterious ghostly visitations from Sara Tidwell (Rose), a blues singer whose spirit lingers in the house. As he is haunted by the many secrets at the lake, Mike comes to realize that his late wife still has something to tell him.

And while the trailer is very creepy, it doesn€™t give much clue to the actual story. If you want to know more you can check out this behind the scenes preview video.

Originally intended to be a film, it was later decided that the story would be better suited to a four part miniseries. King€™s other works have made their way to the small screen in the form of miniseries before, most notably IT and The Stand. In fact The Stand is now set to make its big screen debut, with Harry Potter duo David Yates and Steve Kloves taking the helm.

Bag of Bones premieres on A&E over two nights in December; dates have yet to be announced.
