That, of course, also promises something immensely exciting: the existence of a multiverse. Almost all of those Crisis-title stories DC has published have been about trying to erase or else pare down the multitude of alternate realities that exist in their fictional universe, with everything from planets inhabited by vampire Batman to an alternate reality where Superman helped Russia win the Cold War. Recently they've pretty much gotten rid of it again, but could it be making a return on screen? Series writer Geoff Johns has specifically mentioned the multiverse in interviews, and an adaptation of Crisis On Infinite Earths all but confirms it. What's really interesting is not only the prospect of alternate Flashes breaking through and causing shenanigans, but also the way in which this could be used to tie together the Arrow/Flash TV universe and the Shared Cinematic Universe DC is currently building. In the films, The Flash is due to be played by Ezra Miller, not Grant Gustin. Confusing, right? Not if you subscribe to the theory that the multiverse is in effect, and the TV show Flash simply exists in a different reality to the movie Flash. And frequently in the comics people find ways to leap across that reality gap...
