NBC

The Episode

Ross finds out about Joey and Rachel, and to show how fine he is with it invites them over for dinner with him and Charlie - y'know, Joey's ex. Chandler and Monica visit friends of Phoebe's to get advice on adoption. Frank and the triplets come to visit.

Why It's Great

This is an episode people love. L-O-V-E love. L is for life, I mean what is life, without loving this episode? O is for oh wow! V is for the very surprising turn of events in this instalment, which we were *fine* with by the way. E is for how extreeemeely excellent this all is.

In terms of the rest of the episode, Frank is always a welcome, weird presence on the show, and it's nice to see him coping with being a dad, while at the same time hard on Phoebe. Chandler revealing the kid isn't adopted is very well done, and even better is the 'Santa isn't real' addition.

But really, it's all about Ross. Schwimmer is on ridiculously good form here, it's incredibly quotable, and there's a nice strengthening of the bond between Ross and Joey. Also, it finally brings to an end that godforsaken Joey-Rachel pairing, which is itself enough to warrant it a place.
