Friends: 16 Easter Eggs You Totally Missed

15. The Movie References

Friends Rachel Green
NBC

Friends isn't necessarily the sort of show you associate with making a bunch of references to movies, especially those that are more typically associated with geek culture - that's the area a show like Community is more likely to tread in.

However, there are quite a few moments when the series displayed its inner-nerdiness, usually courtesy of Ross to be fair, and dropped some great nods to the realms of sci-fi and fantasy.

For Star Wars, there's Ross' Leia fantasy, which Rachel then acts out for him (and no, the hair is not right), Monica's prom date seeing the film 317 times, and Pete Becker having TWO life-sized Imperial Stormtroopers.

If you prefer your Stars to be Trekked, then there's Joey's joke about vulcanised rubber being Spock's birth control, and Chandler saying the sonogram of Ben looks like it's about to board the Enterprise.

Other examples include a nod to Narnia, Superman (he flew all the Jews out of Egypt), and of course, Gandalf the Party Wizard, which was presumably what he went by before becoming 'the Grey'.
