Phoebe Buffay and Ross Geller never lived together or even dated. They were only close friends as they hung out with the same group of people. Yet the pair have a strange connection that dates back long before their relationships with many of the rest of the gang.
Phoebe had a rough childhood and found herself living on the streets as a teenager. In order for her to survive she found herself mugging naive teenagers who hung around a comic shop. One of those just happened to be Ross.
Though Ross struggled to come to terms with the fact that the mugger turned out to be Phoebe.
