After 10 series of Friends we finally saw Monica and Chandler have the children they so long dreamed of having in the final run of the show. But before there was Chandler there was another guy in Monica's life.

Richard Burke M.D. became reacquainted with Monica Gellar when she and Phoebe was hired to cater at a party for his work colleagues.

The two hit it off and despite being her father Jack's best friend the pair became couple, only for their romance to be doomed by wanting different futures. Despite this Richard would always be the one that got away, until Chandler proved he was the one all along.

Described by all the Friends' ladies as sexy, Dr Burke was the older divorcee and grandfather who was the "cool Dad". His moustache and cigar smoking was even copied by Chandler and Joey.
