Futurama Or Rick & Morty: Who Said It - Fry Or Morty?
Can you differentiate between the two lovably awkward sci-fi heroes?
One show is about a young man who is hurled 1000 years into the future and must start a new life in year 3000, whilst the other is about a teenage boy who constantly finds himself in the misadventures of his careless scientist grandfather.
There are a lot of similarities that can be drawn between Futurama and Rick and Morty – both cartoons have a flavour of science fiction to them, both are written with sharp adult humour and both are directed with a collection of enjoyably quirky characters. Because of their striking similarities, the two shows have caused a bit of a divide between fans as to which is the superior series.
The biggest parallel by far are the main leads - Philip J. Fry from Futurama and Morty Smith of Rick and Morty. Both characters are awkward and often go through wacky situations not quite knowing what’s going on (especially as both of them are in constant company of a genius, yet careless professor) but they’re both good-hearted, friendly people who are simply lack intelligence. But overall, that’s probably what audiences can relate to the most.
