The Simpsons. Futurama. Two shows that have been massively successful and a real cultural standpoint of the 20th and 21st century so far.
Both of these powerhouses have been the brainchildren of Matt Groening, who might be the person most responsible for the success of animated prime-time shows in the modern era. Rick & Morty, South Park, Family Guy, and countless others all owe themselves to the mind of Matt Groening and his creation of The Simpsons.
Which of the two masthead creations is the best is constantly up for debate. With Futurama having a strong cult following that defends the show to the hilt, and The Simpsons being the longest-running prime-time TV show that is scripted in history, it might seem a little one-sided. However, as the years have gone by Futurama has more widely come to be seen as a masterpiece in its own right as re-evaluations of the show have taken place.
In either case, The Simpsons and Futurama will have their places in the pantheon of television history and nothing will change that at this point.
