Game Of Thrones: 10 Best Moments Of Poetic Justice

7. Ned's Death

If Renly and Xaro seemed like distant characters, then Ned Stark really does only appear to be a speck on the Game of Thrones timeline, despite being a character who blew the whole plot wide open. He was an honourable man who lived by his word. The first irony with his death is that during Ned's debut in the entire series, he explains how the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword, before lopping the head off a deserter on the charge of treason. However, Joffrey passes the sentence but commands Ilyn Payne to swing the very same sword Ned used in the pilot episode to remove the Stark man's head on charge of treason. It's poetic injustice at its cruel best.
