Game Of Thrones: 10 Greatest Warriors In The History Of Westeros

1. Arthur Dayne

"I learned from Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, who could have slain all five of you with his left hand while he was taking a piss with the right."

Perhaps with an air of inevitability, Ser Arthur Dayne takes the top spot - the greatest, most talented warrior to have ever lived (or at least, of those we know a relatively true history of).

Catelyn Stark recalls him as "the deadliest of the seven knights in Aerys' Kingsguard." Ned Stark, meanwhile, thinks of him as "the finest knight" he ever saw. Few accounts of Arthur Dayne, who wielded the fabled sword Dawn, would beg to differ with such assessments.

He's remembered as not only arguably the most skilled fighter Westeros has ever seen, but a true and noble knight, with his greatest achievment being his slaying of the Smiling Knight. George R.R. Martin himself has said a fight between Selmy and Dayne with standard weaponry would be even, but Dayne has the clear advantage wielding Dawn, which legend has it is made from the heart of a fallen star. Rather than passing from father-to-son, only those worthy of being the Sword of the Morning can possess the sword. Only three are known to have held that office, and none have wielded Dawn since Arthur Dayne.

Who do you think is the greatest warrior of all time? Who's your favourite? Let us know down in the comments.
