The First Blackfyre Rebellion is a fascinating period in Westeros history - and one that would, I think, make for an excellent Game of Thrones spin-off - and one of the key antagonists was Aegor Rivers, otherwise known as Bittersteel.

He was one of the Great Bastards of Aegon IV Targaryen, half brother of Daemon Blackfyre and Brynden 'Bloodraven' Rivers - he fought alongside the former, and against the latter.

He fought in the renowned Battle of the Redgrass Field, commanding part of Daemon's host in one of the biggest and bloodiest battles Westeros has seen. While he was ultimately on the losing side and fled Westeros afterwards, he fought valiantly on the battlefield even after Daemon's death, managing to turn the tide of battle, and engaging in a fight with Brynden which saw him take his half-brother's eye.

After leaving Westeros, Aegor worked for the Second Sons for a year, before founding his one band of sellswords, The Golden Company. They quickly earned a great reputation, which persists to the present day, of being remarkably reliable among sellswords and never breaking a contract, while Aegor and his men also fought in three more Blackfyre Rebellions.
