Who will win the Iron Throne?

That's a question Game of Thrones revolved around in its early years. It's a foundation for the entire series. It's woven into the fabric of the show, including its title. And it also doesn't matter.

What matters right now is the Great War. The squabbles of various houses pale in comparison, and when the ash settles and what's left of the living stands in Westeros, things can't go back to being how they were. It shouldn't just return to having one ruler over the Seven Kingdoms - and it probably won't, for that matter.

Season 8 will likely have dragons in King's Landing, whether alive or undead. Dragons means fire. Fire means things get burned. The Iron Throne is something that needs to be dealt with for the show to end, and what an image it would be for the chair that's caused so much pain and suffering to be melted down in the final season, destroying the wheel and restoring power to the Seven Kingdoms.
