Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Outrageous Fan Theories You Won't Believe

1. ...And So Is Ned

Towards the end of the first book/season comes the first major shock, and the realisation that anything can happen in this world: Ned Stark has his head cut off. We all saw it happen, or read about it happening, and it’s been much discussed since. Lord Eddard Stark, RIP.

Except…

Sansa didn’t really recognise his decapitated head as that of her father, and Catelyn does not think the bones can possibly be his. So…

What if it wasn’t actually Ned on Baelor’s Sept? This sort of switcheroo has happened since in the series, with Mance Rayder and Rattleshirt (although they chose not to do it in the show), so could there have been a previous example?

It’s known that the Faceless Men can take on other identities, so what if a certain Braavosi swordsman, who we don’t actually see die and is believed to be a Faceless Man, takes his place and dies in his stead? Then Ned goes on to live elsewhere, either over in Essos, or with his old friend Howland Reed, until the time is right for a return.

House Stark will rise again. Winter Is Coming. The North Remembers. George. R.R. Martin really needs to release The Winds of Winter before everyone goes crazy.
