The White Walkers may seem like a fairly obvious choice for the power spot, but they wouldn't have topped the list prior to Hardhome. The White Walkers' reputation was largely based on rumour, speculation, and unconfirmed reports. We'd seen snippets of their power in previous seasons but no cold, hard evidence that they could amass an army great enough to challenge the Seven Kingdoms. How rapidly that changed... Season 5's Hardhome episode gave fans a massive glimpse of the ice demons, their hierarchy, their dead-raising capabilities, and their apparent leader, the Night's King. He looked unbelievable in that episode, and could go on to be one of the coolest (pun) villains in the show's history, and certainly the most powerful. The walkers marched into battle and left with 90,000+ wildlings on their side, how can anybody possibly expect to defeat them? All hail the most powerful creatures in the world.
