Game Of Thrones: 10 Outrageous Book Moments That Won't Be Used
8. The Battle Of Winterfell
Stannis Baratheon, Lord of Dragonstone and the (*ahem*) rightful King of Westeros, is dead, slain by Brienne of Tarth after the Battle of Winterfell against the forces of House Bolton. Except, of course, he isn't. Not really. He may have been killed in the show, and we're believing he is truly dead here, but his fate in the books is much less certain. Despite Ramsay's boasts to the contrary, Stannis and his forces are still a little way of Winterfell yet, and the battle hasn't happened. On screen it cut right to the very end of this, presumably due to a mix of time and budget constraints. In the books, it's expected that The Winds of Winter will open with an epic Battle of Winterfell, and getting to see Stannis in action one last time, going up against Ramsay and Roose, will be awesome to read about, and would have been great to see as well had they decided to included, but clearly it's not to be.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
