Game Of Thrones: 10 Questions We're Asking After 'The Lion And The Rose'

1. Who Killed Joffrey?

Of course, this is the big question on everyone€™s lips, because George R. R. Martin€™s script and Alex Graves' direction set us up with a murder mystery. As Joffrey sliced up Tyrion€™s wedding present with his new Valyrian steel blade and then taunted his uncle in front of his guests, we were reminded that one wouldn€™t necessarily even need a motive to want him dead. Suspects include Margaery and Olenna, whose hatred of Joffrey has been mentioned onscreen; Varys, for nefarious reasons and the good of the kingdom; Ser Dontos, whose escape with Sansa is more than a tad suspicious; Oberyn Martell, in revenge for Elia€™s murder; and even Tywin, to rid himself of his unstable grandson. Tyrion seems to be a red herring, but perhaps he realised the murderer€™s identity as he inspected the goblet in the episode€™s final moments. If so, we may know soon enough, but knowing Game of Thrones, we€™ll all be wondering what happened for a long time yet.
