Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons That Character Isn't Really Dead
9. Warging Is A Thing
This one doesn’t make quite as much sense for the show, but book fans have also theorized that before his death, Jon may have warged into his direwolf, Ghost.
If you’ve forgotten, warging is when a person can enter the mind of an animal, as Bran has done on plenty of occasions, taking control of his direwolf and even Hodor at one point. The show hasn't established Jon as being able to warg, but in the books, it’s said that he has the ability but he’s not adequately trained. He has actually warged before, at one point going into his direwolf Ghost and spying on a group of wildlings. And in fact in the books, the last thing Jon says before he dies is “Ghost.”
So the theory is right as Jon was dying, he warged into his wolf, and so he never actually died: only his body did. There’s even a line in the books when Melisandre, who is implied to be fully aware of Jon’s impeding doom, makes a point to ask him where Ghost is, as if she knows the wolf will be important.
With this theory, Melisandre could resurrect Jon, at which point he’ll warg back from Ghost into his old body. It all sounds kind of silly and complicated, and the show hasn’t really gone into all this as much, but it’s at least a possibility.
