Game Of Thrones: 10 Stupidly Easy Decisions That Would've Solved Everything
6. Ned Doesn't Warn Cersei
In the overall scheme of Ned Stark's brief stint as Hand of the King, there are plenty of short-sighted decisions that served to hasten his doom, and none was so short-sighted as his decision to warn Cersei that he had learned of her affair with Jaime and of his intention to inform Robert upon his return from a hunt. The intent was to spare Cersei's children the awful fates sure to befall them from the wrath of the cuckolded king. Joffrey wasn't a fully developed psychopath at this point, and Tommen and Myrcella were entirely innocent of any wrongdoing. What a great guy Ned was to give them a chance! Unfortunately, Ned's gesture backfired upon him rather spectacularly. Instead of using the brief window of opportunity to flee the city with her children, Cersei staged a quiet coup that led to the slaughter of Ned's men, the flight of Arya, the captivity of Sansa, Ned's own imprisonment, and calling of the Northern banners to march on the capital. Oops?
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
