Game Of Thrones: 10 Terrible Mistakes That Should Never Have Been Made

4. Sending Theon Home

theons-choice1 Seriously, if there was ever a time to listen to Catelyn, this was the time. Theon has some severe daddy issues, and the entire reason you€™re holding on to him, Robb, is insurance so that his father doesn€™t rebel again. Instead, Robb lets Theon go back home freely and leaves his homeland lightly defended. Bravo, Robb, bravo. This, we know, leads to Winterfell€™s capture, which surprisingly isn€™t even the biggest of Robb€™s mistakes. Theon has more daddy issues than a season of Lost, so sending him back to his family was clearly a bad move. It would have been much wiser to keep him with you, and while the North might still have been attacked, perhaps Winterfell could have been spared, saving a whole lot of heart ache for a whole lot of characters, not to mention numerous deaths. Robb made the error of trusting Theon too much, he unfortunately never got to hear Littlefinger€™s advice. Like father like son though, and where as Ned was honorable to a fault, the same could be said about Robb. Ned is older though, and lacks some of Robb€™s naivety. Even he would have not have trusted Theon. On the plus side for us as the view though, this also leads to one of the show€™s more memorable shots; Theon burning the letter warning Robb of his father€™s attack. A great example of the show€™s premium cable quality, Theon sits in the corner, lit by a single candle in the darkness. He€™s like the candle, more or less alone in this dark and cold world.
