Game Of Thrones: 10 Ways Season 5 Spoilt The Winds Of Winter

1. R+L=J

The biggest theory of the series is the one surrounding Jon Snow€™s true parentage, namely that he is not really Ned Stark€™s bastard, and is instead the child of Rhaegar Targaryen (R) and Lyanna Stark (L).

While it has been hinted at in the books - mostly through Ned€™s inner-thoughts - the show has been rather more explicit in its foreshadowing, especially in season 5 episode Sons of the Harpy.

Ser Barristan recounts tales of Rhaegar, speaking extremely fondly of the prince; Stannis refutes the notion that Ned Stark would father an illegitimate child; and Littlefinger tells Sansa the story of Rhaegar choosing Lyanna over his own wife as the Queen of Beauty at a tourney.

These could all simply be some background filling, but given the prominence of the theory there has to be more to it, otherwise it may be the biggest piece of trolling since Professor Quirrell interrupted the Hogwarts Halloween party.

Although Jon Snow is dead for the time being, it€™s almost certain that he€™ll be returning, and the mystery of his parents will finally be cleared up.
