Game Of Thrones: 10 Ways Season 5 Was Better Than The Books

9. Tyrion Meeting Daenerys

Tyrion Daenerys Game Of Thrones

Tyrion joining forces with Dany was one of the most thoroughly satisfying moments of Season 5. Seeing two characters who have been separated for the entire series sitting down and having a conversation was both awesome and kind of surreal, but it immediately became clear that these two will be a great duo. If Dany ever makes her way back to Meereen, that is.

But this was bound to happen, right? The poster for Season 5 was Tyrion looking up at Drogon, and he was told about the plan to go find Dany in the first episode, so his voyage to Meereen had to end with him encountering Dany.

Well, not exactly. In the books, Dany and Tyrion still haven’t met. Yes, the entire book builds up to Tyrion going to Meereen, and then when he finally gets there, he doesn’t actually meet Dany. He only sees her from a distance, as in the books he’s brought out as entertainment during the fighting pits sequence but Dany spares him.

Remember, Tyrion and Dany are completely absent from the fourth book. Both characters finally return in book five, fans get pumped up to see them together, and then the book ends before they ever come face to face. Lame. Giving the two plenty of screen time together in Season 5 was an excellent, welcome change.
