Game Of Thrones: 10 Ways Season 5 Was Better Than The Books
5. Brienne Had (Slightly) More To Do
Okay, Brienne didn’t have that much to do this season, but it was still a whole lot more than she did in the book. In A Feast For Crows, Brienne is on her mission to find Sansa Stark, and essentially all she does is wander around asking people if they’ve seen Sansa as she continues to come up empty. Brienne is an awesome, badass character, but her chapters become really tedious when you realize that all it’s going to be is her continuing to wander about and not come close to finding Sansa.
In the show, Brienne actually does find Sansa! Having her find what she was looking for but having Sansa not want to go was really interesting, and while Brienne did spend most of the last half of the season just kind of staring at Winterfell, the show still gave her much more of a purpose rather than just having her wander around for a while.
Plus, there’s some chance that Brienne and Sansa will run into each other next season, right? The show has set a pretty interesting confrontation in motion, whereas in the books the two never even really got close. Not yet at least.
